Meeting Minutes - December Meeting

I’d like to take a minute to thank Ray Thomas for doing a superb job for the past 6+ years as District 8’s secretary, some big shoes to fill.

Next meeting 2605 S. Custer, Wichita February 12th 2012 at 1:30 pm.

January meeting called to order by District Rep. Tony Railsback with the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence for lost brothers and sisters.

Roll call, District Rep, Assistance Rep, Treasure, Secretary, Board Member at Large, County Reps: Sedgwick, Reno, Harvey, Butler and Cowley.

Secretary Report, Waived

Treasure Report, Approved as read

Guest Speaker, Richard Bartel spoke about the upcoming Park City Chill. Richard has expanded the Chill to 3 days and will open the doors February 24th (Friday) at Noon.  There will be concerts all three days with tribute band ”Almost KISS” playing Saturday night, this year’s event brings over 120 vendors and growing bigger each year, admission for weekend pass is only $15.00. Come and check out the District 8 booth.

Products report, Alan reported we have good stockpile for the most but need bumper stickers and District patches, approved order of beanies and rubber bracelets to sell at upcoming events.

Editor’s report, Ed wished everyone a Happy New Year and announced upcoming events at the Sunflower Swap Meet and The Park City Chill, encouraging everyone to attend.

Website Report, Ray not in attendance but it’s still up and running. Facebook report, still there.

State Report: No State news due to meeting held after District meeting.  Lobbyist’s  John and Brian in attendance today  and talked in great deal about Right of Way Violations, Dead Red bill and Cheese Cutters also  that Gov Brownback will be signing the proclamation for Motorcycle Awareness Month prior to May.  Brian announced that there is a Safety Awareness Committee Meeting (regarding cheese cutters) January 21, 2012 at 11 am at Strop & Associates INC. 1122 SW 10th Avenue Topeka.  District 8 has a group of people meeting at Casey’s (6th St. Location) in El Dorado, if you would like to ride along and for more information contact Motorcycle Safety/Awareness Coordinator Kit Williams 316-775-0807.

Old Business:  Sealed bid for mini bike frame was won by Justin Bass, Sunflower Swap Meet Feb. 3 &4th needing people to work both days, admission is free parking is $5.00 a day or $7.00 for weekend, We held District 8’s chili cook-off today with the winner advancing to Alef’s HD cook-off next month.  With 9 entries we had a wide variety to choose from.  Tony Wright won Best Chili! We won last year at Alef’s so we are looking for a repeat!

New Business: None we were too busy eating chili.

Upcoming Events: Harvey Co, Ed getting settled in and listening about Toy Run comments. Sedgwick Co, Robert announced Tony Wright as Road Captain and stay tuned for upcoming rides. Cowley Co, nothing scheduled at the moment, Reno Co, no meetings till March, Butler Co, nothing scheduled.

January 27th & 28th – Kansas Days, Topeka

February 3rd & 4th – Sunflower Swap Meet, Wichita

February 11th – District 8 holds State Meeting, El Dorado

February 11th – Alef’s Harley Davidson Chili Cook-Off, Wichita

February 24th, 25th &26th – The Park City Chill, Wichita
